A Chinese court has convicted six people of murder and other criminal charges during the ethnic riots in Xinjiang region in July 2009. There was wide spread violence and murders during the ethnic clash that occurred between Uighurs and the Han Group of Chinese residents.
The violence could be brought under control only after the deployment of hundreds of military personnel. The death sentencing might bring more violence in the region over the long term, fear experts. And it is important to note that the Terrorist Group Al-qaida has already asked the Muslim population in these Chinese towns to revolt against the government in a big way. And forming of links with the terrorist groups in Pakistan and Afghanistan is easy for the Chinese Muslims, by using the weakly monitored China – Pakistan border.
