The new US President Barack Hussain Obama has been able to make the Israel and Palestine groups to consider laying down their arms for sometime and try negotiating peace. He has also been able to push Iran and the Muslim world to see the Western world with less suspicion.
He has also been able to make North Korea think about coming back to the negotiation table to resolve all outstanding issues. He is also working hard to bring an end to the Afghanistan / Iraq region by pulling back the NATO forces at the earliest.
All these efforts have been recognized in the best way possible, by awarding him the coveted Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2009. The recognition is expected to help him work further towards global peace through nuclear weapons reduction by all major powers.
The US and Russian teams have already started a new round of discussion on nuclear weapons reduction by both the countries. The nuclear weaponry with these two countries are enough to destroy the entire world 120 times. So it is a long way to go for these two countries on nuclear arms reduction.
