The Japanese economy is continuing to face very high unemployment levels by it’s own standards, despite special stimulus measures by the government in the last two years.
The latest set of data indicate that the Japanese economy is reviving slowly but the deflationary trends are still there.
So the Bank of Japan has indicated that it would continue with the low interest rate regime for some more time to come, and it may also be ready with other tools to prop up the economy.
The Japanese economy depends to a greater extent on exports to US and Europe, and the downturn in those two regions in the last two years has pulled down the Japanese economy into recession.

Choosing a profession
When we guide our children to choose a profession for them, the prime thing that we keep in mind is their skills and passion. If they have inclination or high passion towards any profession, then it would best to allow and guide them to follow their interest. If the kids do not show much interest in any field and are little confused on what to pursue, then depending upon the efficiency of the children, we may decide to show them professions like medicine, engineering etc. Other than these, if we own a business , then we would want our children to take over the business from us and we would help them acquire academic degree in management. Or they may be willing to take some courses in arts or science. Then they can pursue law, if they are keen on.
We would want our children to choose such a profession that they can prosper through that. But, in every profession, one has to establish himself to achieve a good position. For example, if your become famous Los Angeles Criminal Lawyer, you can earn a lot of money since clients would be willing to pay high fees, if you are successful in your business
Australia to get tougher on cigarettes
Australia is to announce new rules which will force tobacco companies to use plain packaging, reports say.
Manufacturers will be required to drop all colour and branding logos from cigarette packets within two years.
The move, which is being billed as a world-first, comes after recommendations were made by the World Health Organisation.
PM Kevin Rudd, who is to hold elections this year, aims to cut smoking-related deaths to under 10% by 2018.
The decision is expected to be confirmed by Australia’s Health Minister, Nicola Roxon.
Smoking kills 15,000 Australians every year and is the largest preventable cause of disease and death in the country.
The law will require all tobacco products to be sold in a standard colour and style with government health warnings by 2012.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has applied for a visa to visit the United States next week, the US says.
The application is apparently motivated by his wish to be at the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) review conference next Monday.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be among more than 30 foreign ministers attending the opening day of discussions in New York.
The US says Iran is trying to build a nuclear weapon, but Tehran denies this.

Goldman sachs Denies
Lloyd Blankfein and other executives at the Wall Street giant were accused by a US Senate panel of acting unethically, while Americans lost jobs and homes.
Mr Blankfein said clients came looking for risk “and that’s what they got”.
The hearing comes as the US Congress considers the most sweeping reform of the financial industry since the 1930s.
During hours of hostile questioning on Tuesday, Goldman executives were accused of marketing some investments that the bank’s own staff dismissed as “junk”.
De addiction Facility
One of the key problems that our generation faces is the problem of how to bring up youngsters. Today’s youngsters have so much of exposure that it is impossible to shield them from things like drugs and so on. They are going to be exposed towards all these. So, a lot of youngsters get into bad habits such as smoking, alcohol abuse and drugs. They get addicted to these bad habits and they don’t know how to get of these habits.
This is where these youngsters need some way of bringing them back and giving them back their life. These are the facilities such as the drug rehabs in Florida. They carry out dual diagnosis treatment and other treatments so that there is clear possibility of curing the youngsters of their habit and bringing them back to normality.
There are a lot of things which happen in these facilities. There are qualified doctors and nurses there. There are also case managers and psychiatrists who can talk to the addicted patients and understand what has happened to them and why are they in the grip of such bad habits.
They also have in house and remotely located facilities where the patients can stay and get the habit kicked out of them.
These places typically are serene ones and full of nature and calm the mind and the body. The patients are made to sweat out and made to work. They are given natural and healthy food. They are engaged in things which would get them out of the habit.
All these things taken together work pretty well. Though it would cost a bit to get these facilities for the youngsters, the alternative is to let the youngsters dwell in the habit and wither away, which would be such a waste of talent and life.
S&P downgrades Greece to “Junk” status
The curtains are finally coming down for Greece, and it now does not have any other option than to go back to IMF and European Union for financial aid. The Greece public still do not want to take any cut in their spending style, so the rating agency has pulled down the rating to junk status.
This rating downgrade would mean that Greece would not be able to raise any money from the global markets henceforth, which would be good enough to pull down the entire European economic system.
The rating agencies also downgraded Portugal rating by few notches, but still it stays above Junk status. The rating agencies are expecting the latest round of downgrades to force these countries to get back to financial overhaul over the coming days.
Manuel Noriega Fights the French
Former Panamanian leader Manuel Noriega has appeared before French prosecutors after his US extradition and will fight charges against him, his lawyers say.
Noriega will argue French courts do not have jurisdiction to try him as he is immune from prosecution and because the statute of limitations has expired.
He was convicted in France in his absence in 1999 for money laundering but will face a new trial.
He spent more than 20 years in jail in the US on drugs charges.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday signed a “surrender warrant” and Noriega was taken to Miami airport and handed to French prison officials on an Air France plane.
