There has been talk by leading corporate heavy weights on the need for increasing the social spending by the corporates. And many companies keep talking about that and do almost nothing. But there are indeed many companies which take up social causes in a serious way and do what ever possible quickly.
For example, the other day I read about the 25 boxes of clothing / first aid / shoes etc., sent by Cydcor to the Haiti victims. The gesture is indeed commendable and a slight dig into Cydcor company on the internet threw few more interesting facts.

There has to be an increased pressure on the profitable corporates from the people in power, both politicians and also the bureaucrats , to spend a defined part of their after tax profits on charitable causes. That would ensure the availability of good amount of funds for unexpected events like floods / famine / fire accidents / industrial accidents / air crashes / earth quakes etc.,
The pledging of sharing 50% of their wealth for philanthropic causes by the leading billionaires of US and Europe is worth commending at this point.
