A recent survey conducted by the Postal Service of US has reported that the department is leading towards losses since the volume of mail deliveries has come down drastically. The drop in mail service is owing to people preferring internet and other private mail services. There is a 13 percent drop in volume of mail service this year over the previous year.
To offset the same, Postal Service of US has sought hike in mail service charges. The revenue has come down and the expenditure has gone up. There is a hint of layoff in the future. They also have intended to relax delivery schedules.
The Postal Service also plans to sell insurance, banking and other services through post offices, but has not finalized anything on it.
