It is every man’s business in this world to be very impressive. Leaving an impression is not only a mandatory task for business representatives and salesmen, it is equally important for any common man. A person needs to be impressive not only to sell his product or ideas or to make business, but to make a place for himself in the society, to create an image for himself among people. Whatever argument we may make or whatever justification we may make, about all being ourselves, taking into consideration of other’s opinion on us in the society is inevitable.

That instinct is there with every man, that is why we spend a lot on our clothes, to be able to be presentable, live a standard lifestyle, decorate and upkeep our home, etc. People now also maintain their own personal contact cards, since presenting a card that can give their required personal information is considered a smarter way to create a good impression rather than having to explain what we are actually doing and our other details. It may also not force the listener to take facts which he is not actually interested in. Above all this, keeping up good behavior with the neighbors can earn us the respect we deserve in the society.

The Venables story

The Ministry of Justice is to review how Jon Venables was supervised after his release from custody in 2001, eight years after he murdered James Bulger.

On Friday, Venables was jailed for two years for downloading and distributing indecent images of children.

Former Home Office permanent secretary Sir David Omand will conduct the probe, which is expected to take three months.

The arrangements for the supervision of Venables, now 27, by probation, police and other agencies will be examined.

Venables was 10 when he and friend Robert Thompson murdered James Bulger in Bootle, Merseyside, in 1993.

Druglord arrested

One of the Caribbean region’s most wanted alleged drug barons has been arrested in Puerto Rico.

Jose Figueroa Agosto was captured by the FBI in the island’s capital, San Juan, ending a decade-long manhunt.

He is accused of running a major smuggling ring that moved Colombian cocaine into the US via Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

In 1999, Mr Figueroa, 45, escaped from prison in Puerto Rico, where he was serving a 209-year sentence for murder.

Last year, he narrowly avoided capture in the Dominican Republic, escaping on foot after police shot out a tyre on his car.

Campbell to testify

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has confirmed she will give evidence at the war crimes trial of the former Liberia President Charles Taylor.

Mr Taylor is on trial at the UN-backed tribunal in The Hague accused of using diamonds to fuel a conflict in Sierra Leone that killed tens of thousands.

Prosecutors had summoned Ms Campbell to testify over reports that she received diamonds from Mr Taylor in 1997.

Ms Campbell is scheduled to appear on 29 July.

Canadian police officers were not justified in using a taser gun on a Polish immigrant who later died, an inquiry has found.

Robert Dziekanski, who did not speak English, died after being stunned five times with a Taser gun at Vancouver airport in 2007.

The district attorney general has said that a special prosecutor would look into possible criminal charges against the four officers involved.

The case sparked outrage across Canada.

Mr Dziekanski, 40, was a first-time traveller who had been emigrating to Canada, where his mother lived.
