A major rail disaster in West Bengal of India has taken the lives of 61 people. The incident happened during the wee hours of Monday night,when everyone were sleeping. The station of Sainthaia is the place where the two trains collided killing people.
The name of the two trains which collided are Uttar Banga express and Vananchal Express. The train Uttar Banga Express came at a speed of 100 km and rammed into the Vananchal express. As many as 150 passengers were injured due to the train accident which happened. The coach which was hit was the last coach ,which was a unreserved compartment.
The hit was so heavy that the compartment of the Vananchal express jumped and touched the 25 foot road over bridge. The accident happened exactly at 2 am in a junction between Rampurhat and Bolpur. The Vanachal express was late by four hours and started to move fast when suddenly another train occurred. A preliminary investigation of the incident is still going on about the accident.
Rescue teams arrived and started rescuing the victims from the accident train. Railways of India has announced a compensation of 5 lakh for the dead and a job for the relatives. India has the largest railway network in the world, it may be noted.
